An image gallery is one of the easiest additions you can make to a Joomla website.  It allows you to add event photos and a simple report of the event all within a single article.

The procedure is simple.  Down-size your pictures (to help them load faster in a browser) and drop them into a new folder you create on your site. Then add a simple line of code to the new article you're writing.

If you want to add a caption to some or all of the pictures in that gallery, it's as easy as making captions like "image01.jpg|That's our new house!" in a file called "labels.txt" that you place in your image folder.

The image gallery plugin will create thumbnail images from your gallery to show within your article.  Either a single one, like the one above -- OR -- thumbnails of the entire gallery as shown below.  You can enlarge any image by clicking on it.  It will open in a window with the rest of the browser grayed out and then you will be able to browse forward or backward through the remaining images.
